How to Export Any Page from Self-Hosted Siyuan Web App to PDF

Exporting content from a self-hosted application like Siyuan and transforming it into a PDF can seem like a daunting task in fact it is not an option in Self-Hosted version of the same. But with the right steps, you can seamlessly move your content into Notion and export it as a PDF without losing any structure or formatting. In this blog post, I’ll guide you through the entire process, complete with instructions and tips to ensure everything works smoothly.

Prerequisites

Before we dive into the process, make sure you have:

• A self-hosted Siyuan app.
• A Notion account and the Notion app installed.

Step 1: Exporting from Siyuan to MD Format

The first step is to export the content from the Siyuan app in Markdown (MD) format. Follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the desired page, folder, or structure within the Siyuan app.
2. Select the option Export to MD format.
3. If you are exporting multiple pages or a whole folder, Siyuan will bundle the content into a zip file.

Step 2: Importing the Exported Content into Notion

Now that you have the Markdown files from Siyuan, it’s time to bring them into Notion. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open the Notion app and navigate to the main dashboard.
2. Use the search bar to look for the Import feature or access it through the main menu.
3. Select the zip file you exported from Siyuan. Notion will automatically unzip the content and recreate the original folder structure.

Step 3: Exporting as PDF from Notion

After successfully importing the Markdown files into Notion, you can now export the content as a PDF:

1. Navigate to the imported folder or page in Notion.
